Rob Schneider said his friend Robin Williams tragic suicide was a "side effect" of medication he was taking for Parkinson's disease.
According to Us Weekly, the 50-year-old Schneider met Williams on "Saturday Night Live" roughly two decades ago, and they've remained friends ever since. On Aug. 14, three days after Williams hanged himself with a belt in his Northern California home, Schneider took to Twitter to voice his concern about the medication Williams may have been taking for Parkinson's disease.
Schneider blamed the pharmaceutical industry for Williams' suicide just hours after Williams' wife, Susan, released a statement about the death of her late husband, revealing for the first time that he was suffering from the early stages of Parkinson's.

"Robin’s sobriety was intact and he was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety, as well as early stages of Parkinson’s Disease, which he was not yet ready to share publicly," said part of her statement.
It is unclear what medications, if any, Williams was taking at the time of his death, or if Schneider had any insider knowledge of such matters.
"While we can't really disprove Rob's theory, there will unfortunately never be a way to prove it either,"

After expressing his anger at the pharmaceutical industry, the "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo" star said his friend was the "Elvis" of comedy, and issued a final tweet. He later released audio comments of his thoughts on the late, great star.
