Streaming video company Roku has sold 10 million players in the U.S., hitting a significant milestone in a market expected to double by 2017.

In a blog post Tuesday, Roku CEO Anthony Wood said the latest data from consumer market researchers NPD Group shows Roku users more than doubled the number of hours streamed by Apple TV. Wood also said Roku accounts for 37 million hours of streamed video each week compared to Apple TV’s 15 million hours, Chromecast’s 12 million hours, and Amazon Fire TV’s 6 million hours.

But even at 10 million units sold, Roku sales still lag behind Apple, which said this past summer that it sold twice as many Apple TVs than its closest competitor, Forbes reported.

Roku’s sales milestone comes as the streaming industry is poised for growth through partnerships and shared services. Some reports have indicated Apple may team up with cable providers and content owners on a product that would blend pay TV and streaming content. Experts say such arrangements only spell growth for streaming companies with products already on solid footing with consumers.

Since January, Roku sold 2 million new devices. Its most recent product is a flash drive-like Streaming Stick priced at $50.
