Mitt Romney leads President Barack Obama among independent voters in nine of the last 12 major polls,
Talking Points Memo’s PollTracker shows.
And the only surveys showing Obama ahead came from Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling (PPP).
The outcome represents a reversal from the prior 12 polls, eight of which showed Obama ahead.
So clearly Romney is making headway with the voting sector that will almost certainly determine the outcome of November’s election.
In the nine most recent polls showing Romney ahead, his advantage averages 6.4 percentage points. In the three PPP polls showing Obama ahead, his lead averages 4.7 percentage points.
Of the nine polls showing Romney ahead, two came from IDB/TIPP, two from Fox News, one from Mason-Dixon, one from CBS/New York Times, one from North Star Opinion Research, one from Politico/George Washington University, and one from PPP.
