Rory and Joey Feek missed the Grammys together on Monday night, watching the presentation on television from hospice in Indiana despite Joey's insistence that her husband attend the show in Los Angeles where they were nominated for an award.
Rory Feek wrote on his blog
"This Life I Live" that his daughters Heidi and Hopie traveled to the Grammys with the couple's manager to represent the country music duo, known professionally as Joey+Rory.
Joey+Rory were nominated for best country duo/group performance for their song "If I Needed You." The award went to "Girl Crush," by Little Big Town, which also won best country song at the awards show. The Brothers Osborne were also nominated along with a song by Blake Shelton and Ashley Monroe, and a tune by Charles Kelley, Dierks Bentley, and Eric Paslay.
"Joey tried to talk me into going with them… many, many times," said Rory Feek. "She even had a Southwest ticket purchased for me that I cancelled. I can't leave her. I won't.
"I have done many foolish things and made lots of mistakes in my life, but this isn't going to be one of them. Instead, I will be sitting beside her and cheering on Little Big Town, and Blake Shelton and Charles and all the talented folks who are nominated in our category and others," he continued.

Rory Feek said his daughters wanted him to write something for them to say in case Joey+Rory won on Monday night. He initially refused but then gave in.
"I can't imagine our names being called," he said. "But then again, Joey and I also couldn't have imagined us being where we are at all… the good parts or the bad."
