Sarah Goldberg, the actress who played Matt Camden's wife Sarah on "7th Heaven," has died at the age of 40.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported Tuesday that Goldberg passed on September 27, likely of a heart ailment, her mother said. In addition to her role on "7th Heaven," the actress also played Dr. Heather Labonte on "Judging Amy" from 2002 to 2004, and also had roles on "House," "CSI," "Without a Trace," and the rebooted "90210."
Goldberg's mother reported that her daughter "went to sleep and didn’t wake up" while sleeping with her computer on her lap at the family's cabin in Wisconsin. A formal autopsy failed to determine a cause of death.
Sometimes going by the stage name Sarah Danielle Madison, her film credits include "My Best Friend's Wedding" and "Jurassic Park III."
In her role as Sarah Glass Camden, she played the wife of the Camden family's oldest son Matt, a medical student and daughter of a rabbi played by comedian Richard Lewis.
"She would walk down the street here, or places in Wisconsin, and people would come up to her and say, 'You played the daughter'" of the rabbi, her mother said. "She wanted to go to medical school, and instead for three years she played a doctor on '7th Heaven.'"
Her on-screen husband Matt, played by Barry Watson, memorialized Goldberg on Twitter soon after the news of her death broke.
The news of her death comes just a day after TMZ exposed an audio recording that purports to be actor Stephen Collins, who played family patriarch Eric Camden on "7th Heaven," discussing his sexual abuse of three underage girls.
