Sarah Palin will return to "Saturday Night Live" for its 40th anniversary at the invitation of producer Lorne Michaels, and the buildup has all the makings for a cage fight with ultimate foe Tina Fey.
The Feb. 15 show will be the first time Palin will appear since 2008 and her bid as the Republican vice presidential nominee, and it was the second big "get" for the "SNL" 40th anniversary, which also recently announced that
Eddie Murphy was returning for the first time since 1984.
Palin, showing that she could take a joke, agreed to appear back in 2008 two weeks before election day despite being spoofed by Tina Fey during the 2008 presidential race,
reported People magazine. The magazine said this time Palin will bring her two youngest daughters and three "Alaska Grown" sweatshirt hoodies for Fey.
Palin told writers Tom Shales and James Miller of "Live from New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live" that she came on the show to counter Fey's portrayal of her on the show,
according to Mediaite.
"I think 'SNL' is egotistical if they believe that it was truly an effect on maybe the public debate about who should lead the country in the next four years," said Palin. "I know that they portrayed me as an idiot, and I hated that, and I wanted to come on the show and counter some of that."
"If I ran into Tina Fey again today, I would say: 'You need to at least pay for my kids' braces or something from all the money that you made off of pretending that you're me,'" Palin continued. "My goodness, you capitalized on that! Can't you contribute a little bit? Jeez!"
The public may get to see if Palin cashes in with Fey with the "Saturday Night Live" 40th anniversary special airing on NBC on Feb. 15 at 8 p.m.
Palin hasn't disappeared from the political stage, expressing last month she was "seriously interested" in possibly running for president in 2016,
according to Politico.
"Without putting any words in my mouth, you can absolutely say that I’m seriously interested," Palin said in January. "It's not a major story because 2016 really is still far off. I think it's a major story because maybe you guys (mainstream media) are bored."
