Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost have secretly tied the knot. The newlywed couple shared the news on Thursday via the Instagram page of Meals on Wheels America, a non-profit organization that they are urging fans to donate towards.
"We’re thrilled to break the news that Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost were married over the weekend in an intimate ceremony with their immediate family and loved ones, following COVID-19 safety precautions as directed by the CDC," read the Instagram post, which included a photo of a ferry sailing into the sunset with the words "Jost Married" above it. "Their wedding wish is to help make a difference for vulnerable older adults during this difficult time by supporting @mealsonwheelsamerica," the announcement continued, encouraging people to "celebrate the happy couple" by making a donation.
Johansson and Jost first met on the set of "Saturday Night Live" in 2006. Jost had been working as a writer for the show when Johansson arrived to host her first episode.
"It was some dumb parody that he had written, and he was in there partly directing this segment we had to do," Johansson recalled of the day they met in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2019. "That's my first memory of him. He seemed very confident at the time. I don't know if he felt that way, but in that environment, if you're not confident as a writer, your stuff just never gets produced," she added.
Johansson and Jost confirmed their relationship at the 2017 American Museum of Natural History Gala. Two years later they were engaged. In his book, "A Very Punchable Face: A Memoir," Jost described his now-wife as "beautiful, smart, sweet and intimidatingly sophisticated," adding that she was a star with "a grace and a smile that I’ve still never seen in any other human," according to USA Today.
Johansson was previously married to Ryan Reynolds (2008 to 2011) and Romain Dauriac (2014-2017), with who she a daughter, Rose Dorothy Dauriac, 6. This is Jost's first marriage.
