Sean Spicer said no to ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" because of his fall commitments and, according to one source, he's "not a good dancer," TMZ posted Thursday.

A season of Spicer paired with a hot dance pro would have been golden to social media, and many mourned on Twitter, for example:

The former White House press secretary under President Donald Trump opted not to follow in the footsteps of Trump Energy Secretary Rick Perry and a handful of other politicians and put on his dancing shoes in the popular live reality dance contest.

A source told TMZ that Spicer was flattered by ABC's interest but the longtime Republican spokesman was stymied by an "overwhelming number of commitments in the fall." The source added that "He's not a good dancer."

Spicer resigned as press secretary in July after Trump hired Anthony Scaramucci to be White House communications director, The Hill reported. Spicer, who was known for his combative White House press briefings with the media, was impersonated by Oscar-nominated actress Melissa McCarthy on "Saturday Night Live."

"After reflection, my decision was to recommend to the president that I give Anthony (Scaramucci) and Sarah (Huckabee Sanders) a clean slate to start from so that they can talk about the president's agenda and help move it forward," Spicer said about his resignation on Fox News, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The New York Post's Page Six was one of the first to report that ABC executives had reached out to Spicer, who served as communications director for the Republican National Committee before he joined President Trump's team.

There also was some empathy for Spicer on social media.
