Seth Meyers Replaces Fallon on NBC's 'Late Night'

After weeks of speculation, NBC finally announced Sunday that longtime "Saturday Night Live" star Seth Meyers will replace Jimmy Fallon as host of "Late Night" when the comedian takes over "The Tonight Show" from Jay Leno next year.

Meyers, head writer at "SNL" and "Weekend Update" anchor, will succeed Fallon and past hosts Conan O'Brien and David Letterman as host of the 12:35 a.m. "Late Night" talk show in 2014, with a specific premiere date to be announced at a later time.

"We think Seth is one of the brightest, most insightful comedy writers and performers of his generation," NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt said in a statement, adding Meyers' 12 seasons on "SNL" "helped him hone a topical brand of comedy that is perfect for the 'Late Night' franchise."

Fallon will assume Leno's hosting duties at "The Tonight Show" next spring.
