Sherri Shepherd's 'The View' Goodbye Full of Emotion, Gratefulness

After seven seasons on "The View," co-host Sherri Shepherd said her final goodbyes Monday during a pre-recorded show.

"I'm so extremely and profoundly grateful,” Shepherd, 47, said. “This has been one of the best seven years of my life.”

While her co-hosting duties were a “dream come true,” Shepherd went on to say that she initially didn’t want to take the co-hosting position but that the show’s iconic creator and co-host Barbara Walters had “pushed” her to be part of the all-female ensemble.

“I cried in my dressing room for three years saying, 'What am I doing on this table? I don't know what I'm doing!' " Shepherd said.

"This table is just not going to be the same without you," co-host Whoopi Goldberg said during Monday’s taping.

Goldberg, 58, will return to the daytime ABC show, which is in its 18th season. Rosie O'Donnell will also return to the show that first aired in 1997.

In early July, Shepherd and co-host Jenny McCarthy announced they wouldn’t be returning to “The View,” with Shepherd adding that her contract would be up this month.

Walters announced her retirement from “The View” in May. TMZ reported in late June that Shepherd and McCarthy were fired from the show on the same day. Soon after, it was announced that O’Donnell would be returning to the co-hosting table.

Late last week, CNN reported that Bill Wolff, executive producer of MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show” will join “The View” as executive producer. Wolfe will replace Bill Geddie who started with the program in 1997. Auditions are reportedly continuing for additional co-hosts.

In July, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin indicated she might be interested in one of the open hosting spots on "The View."

Wolff will reportedly revamp the daytime talk show that will begin again in September.
