Shia LaBeouf, the troubled actor whose bizarre behavior has made headlines over the last few years, was arrested for misdemeanor public intoxication Friday night outside of a Sixth Street bar in Austin, Texas.
LaBeouf, the 29-year-old best known for the "Transformers" movie franchise, was warned by police not to attempt to cross a street with a "Don't Walk" sign, but he
ignored them, a witness told KVUE-TV.
"The reason he got arrested originally is because he was jaywalking across the street over to [a bar there]," witness Noah Hubbard said. "He got all in the cops' face and they told him not to do that, he started cussing them out and stuff, he was clearly wide-eyed . . . I don't know man, he's clearly here for [Austin City Limits Festival] but I guess he just wanted to come party tonight and I guess he took it a little too hard."
Ben Blake, a bouncer at a bar in the
Austin entertainment district, told KXAN-TV he witnessed the arrest as well.
"Obviously he gets arrested a lot, he came down here, he acted up and [Austin police] doesn't (sic) put up with that," Blake said. "So he got what he got, you know?"
At least one person posted a photo of LaBeouf on social media.
The actor was taken to the Travis County Jail and booked around 8:30 p.m. Friday. He was issued a release, and a judge is expected to rule Monday whether to continue on with the case.
LeBeouf's bizarre behavior has made headlines since 2013, when he was accused of plagiarizing his short film "HowardCantour.com."
Following the news of the stolen idea, LeBeouf took to Twitter where he posted several plagiarized apologies, apparently in an effort to poke fun at the situation. He then announced he was quitting “public life.”
Two months later, LeBeouf appeared on the red carpet at the Berlin Film Festival wearing a brown paper bag over his head with the words “I am not famous anymore” written on it.
In June of 2014, the actor was seeing crying after police arrested him for smoking cigarettes and yelling obscenities during a Broadway production of “Cabaret.” He was charged with criminal
trespassing and disorderly conduct, TMZ reported.
