Shooting Suspect, 12, Caught Week Later and 300 Miles Away

A 12-year-old boy wanted in a fatal drug-related shooting in Nebraska was arrested 300 miles away more than a week later.

Jarrell Milton, a suspect in the June 29 shooting in Omaha that left Ray Fisher dead and Charles Fisher injured, was taken into custody by U.S. Marshalls in Minneapolis on Tuesday.

Prosecutors believe the two 30-year-old men met with Milton and two other juveniles – Jamar E. Milton, 12, and Shuntayvious Primes-Willis, 15, – for a marijuana sale and the boys shot the men during an attempted robbery.

"All three suspects had guns," said Don Kleine, the Douglass County attorney, reported KETV. "Two guns (were) recovered. To have young people at this age involved in that kind of violence is very troubling."

Prosecutor Jim Masteller said at least two types of guns were fired, according to the World-Herald Omaha. Authorities believe Primes-Willis fired his weapon at one of the men, but said they are unsure which of the other boys fired their guns.

Jarrell will be booked ahead of court proceedings, while Jamar and Primes-Willes are set to have a preliminary hearing on July 31.

"Our intention is to file on them as adults," said Kleine. "There's a question with regard to the 12-year-old under the new law whether we can proceed in adult court. There isn't any question, in my mind, (that) there are gang ties with the individuals who are charged."

Charles Fisher identified the boys in a photo line-up.

Raye Fisher-Mimms, the Fishers’ mother, said her sons had grown up around Primes-Willes’ father, the World-Herald Omaha reported.

“They called each other homies ... more than that, they called each other brothers,” she said. “(Primes) is just hurt. ... They were raised together. He doesn’t know how to take it,”
