A 2010 episode of "The Simpsons" seems to have predicted the gold medal win for USA curling at this year's Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
"The Simpsons" episode showed Marge and Homer bringing home a U.S. Olympic gold medal in mixed curling, much like the U.S. men’s team did in the 2018 games.
The episode, titled “Boy Meets Curl,” even had Sweden winning the silver, which is how the men’s competition turned out this year.
The writer of the episode tweeted congratulations to Team USA, commenting tongue-in-cheek that they were the second U.S. curling team to best Sweden in the Olympics.
The curling medal was not the only uncanny prediction the show has made, Entertainment Weekly noted. Disney’s purchase of Fox, the FIFA corruption scandal, and Donald Trump’s election to the U.S. presidency were all storylines featured in episodes that took place long before the actual events occured.
"The Simpsons" Executive Producer Al Jean also tweeted about the occurrence.
Twitter fans thought maybe the "Simpsons" writers are time-travelers, or wished they would write something about winning the lottery.
