Three young Canadian sisters were killed in a farm accident Tuesday after they fell into a grain truck full of canola seed and suffocated.
Catie Bott, 13, and her 11-year-old twin sisters, Dara and Jana, were playing on their family farm near Withrow, Canada, when the
accident occurred, the Calgary Sun reported. Nearby adults pulled the girls out and began CPR, but Catie and one of the twin girls died at the scene. The other twin died Wednesday morning after being life-flighted to an area hospital.
"Our kids died living life on the farm, it is a family farm. We do not regret raising and involving our kids Catie, age 13 — Dara, age 11, and Jana, age 11 on our farm," the family said in a statement quoted by the Sun. "It was our life."
Parents Roger and Bonita Bott and their son Caleb are in seclusion and too upset to speak to the media, their pastor told the Sun.
"They are a wonderful family and very close friends of ours," Brian Allan, of the Withrow Gospel Mission, told the newspaper. "This is your worst nightmare."
The small community, located northwest of Calgary, has rallied to help the Bott family, Allan said, including completing their harvest and fundraising.

Sgt. Mike Numan fought tears as he told CTV and other reporters Wednesday, "This is hitting us all very hard."
"Front-line responders are routinely called out to sad situations but things are always harder when there’s children involved,” he said.
An expert told CTV that it takes just two seconds for grains to bury people "as if in quicksand."
"All three of the girls were just beautiful kids, just wonderful kids to be around. They were very caring, very giving. They were a blessing to all of us," neighbor Joey Gustavson told CTV.
