Actor Tom Welling, best known for playing Superman on "Smallville," was arrested for DUI in Yreka, California.
Welling, 47, was taken into custody by Yreka Police officers in an Arby's parking lot just after midnight on Sunday, according to the New York Post. Welling was charged with misdemeanor DUI with a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or higher.
Welling was cited and released without bail shortly after 7 a.m. local time Sunday.
Welling gained widespread recognition for his role as a young Clark Kent on the hit series "Smallville," which aired from 2001-11. The Superman origin story initially premiered on the WB before merging with UPN to form The CW in 2006. In addition to his iconic role, Welling starred in movies like "Cheaper by the Dozen," and appeared in TV shows such as "Lucifer," "Draft Day," "Batwoman," and "The Winchesters."
Welling recently said he's interested in playing to role of Superman again.
"I think now because of the two boys that I have with my lovely wife … we have a bunch of costumes at home," he told Comicbookmovie.com. "It started out at the first Halloween and now we have, I don't know, 40 or 50 costumes. The one costume we don't have is the Superman costume.
"I asked my son why and he said, 'Because he's taken' and I said, 'By who?' 'By [you].' That was like, 'Alright, I think I'm open to the idea now.' So, if you know anybody, I think it would be great. I think it would be fun to be part of."
Welling is married to Jessica Rose Lee Welling. They live in Yreka, about 16 miles south of the California-Oregon border, and share two children: sons Thomson Wylde, 6, and Rocklin Von, 3.
