Snow Leopard Cub Makes His Cute Debut at Bronx Zoo (Video)

A snow leopard cub scampered about his enclosure this week at New York’s Bronx Zoo as the public got the chance to get acquainted with the zoo’s newest member.

The baby leopard, who hasn’t yet been named, was put on display last week, and is the son of the zoo’s snow leopard Leo.

Looking like any other kitten, the cub romped and played, and fell ungracefully off of tree branches in the video.

CBS News said the Bronx Zoo was the first in North America to put snow leopards on display, in 1903.

On the zoo’s website, officials said the new cub is the first of Leo’s offspring. Leo came to the zoo after in 2006 after he was orphaned in Pakistan, the site said.

The Bronx Zoo website said snow leopards are one of the most endangered big cats, with only 3,500 to 7,000 left in the wild. They are found in Central Asia. The zoo has been a “world leader” in caring for the beautiful cats, and has bred more than 70 in captivity, the website said.
