There’s dill pickle dips and chips, and drinkers are gulping down pickle sports drinks or even pickle vodka. Now Sonic is preparing to roll out a pickle juice slush.
The pickle juice snow cone slush is set to debut in June, Sonic spokesperson Rebeka Mora told USA Today.
It has a bright green color with a taste of sweet slush and pickle juice, according to Food and Wine, which reported it is “surprisingly delicious” after a taste test at Sonic’s headquarters in Oklahoma City.
The sweet and tangy juice can act as a syrup and be added to any delicacy. It might also work alongside burgers and corn dogs. Sonic often provides customized beverage and food items, and customers could add it to milkshakes and sundaes, Delish pointed out.
The unusual combinations are nothing new at Sonic, which has a variety of desserts and sweets such as candy slushes and waffles and cookie dough in ice cream.
Sonic's pickle juice slushes are the first to be featured nationwide, but smaller outlets have had similar products. Delish notes there are pickle snow cones throughout the Southwest and pickle slushies in Tennessee.
Twitter users were mixed on whether or not pickle juice slushes are a good idea.
