Tuesday is the last day to view the popular YouTube video of astronaut Chris Hadfield’s rendition of David Bowie’s "Space Oddity," made from the International Space Station.

Hadfield received permission to use the video for one year, and that means its time is up.

The video has more than 22.4 million hits and features the astronaut/musician floating around, singing and playing guitar, with stunning views of the earth over his shoulder.

Fans of Hadfield’s rendition implored Bowie to let the song stay up.

“WTF David Bowie?! You or your record company should let this stay up, not only is it good it's part of history. Pfff,” wrote one.

On Reddit, the first Canadian to walk in space and commander of the ISS, thanked everyone for the millions of views.

“It has been a year since my son and I created and released the Space Oddity video. We have been amazed and delighted that so many people enjoyed it — and maybe saw what spaceflight can really be like,” he wrote. “It helped show that humans have left Earth, and that the Space Station is a new stage, for not just science and exploration, but for our art and music too. With exploration comes insight — with perspective comes self-realization.”

The Reddit thread offered numerous discussions on the fact that even though the official copy of the video will be removed from YouTube, many illegal copies will remain.

Still, many want it legal and accessible.

“Yes, the video will never disappear. But wouldn't it be nice if an easily assessable copy was available to inspire the sense of wonderment that only space combined with Bowie can bring? There has to be a bunch of kids that have changed their idea of what their future profession will be because if this, why not add more to the list?” one person wrote.
