Sean Spicer is being courted for ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," two sources reportedly told Politico Wednesday.
Spicer, whose fiery White House press briefings as President Donald Trump's former press secretary made headlines and were parodied on "Saturday Night Live," has not commented on the rumor so far, noted Politico.
The New York Post's Page Six said a "TV insider" also confirmed that the reality dance show where celebrities are matched with professional dancers approached Spicer about starring on the program in September.
Spicer would not have to go far to ask about what the "DWTS" experience would be like if he decided to join the cast. Current Energy Secretary Rick Perry participated in "Dancing With the Stars" in 2016. The former three-term Texas governor and his dance partner Emma Slater were eliminated in September, USA Today noted.
Another Texan, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay performed on the show in 2009 but withdrew after three weeks because of stress fractures, the News & Observer noted. Fox News contributor Geraldo Rivera danced in 2016 while current Fox News host Tucker Carlson boogied on the show in 2006, the News & Observer said.
Spicer also reportedly talked with ABC's news division, CBS, NBC and Fox, Politico wrote. While some of the talks included conversations about being a political contributor, others were more of "get-to-know-you sessions," sources told Politico.
Spicer stepped down from the Trump administration last week after the president named Anthony Scaramucci, a millionaire financier, as his new communications director, the New York Post said.
Before working for Trump, Spicer was the former communications director and spokesman for the House Budget Committee and then the communication director for the Republican Conference of the U.S. House of Representatives, The Sun noted.
He was the U.S. trade representative for George W. Bush from 2006-2009 and then communications director for the Republican National Committee, wrote The Sun.
