"Star Wars Episode 7," the latest in the iconic sci-fi film series that is scheduled for release in 2015, may feature Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o of "12 Years a Slave" fame.
Prior to winning her Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress this year, Nyong’o was rumored to have met with "Star Wars Episode 7" director JJ Abrams, according to
Britain's InEntertainment.com.

Though it is unconfirmed whether Nyong’o met with Abrams about the much-anticipated movie or another possible project, the British entertainment website, along with
The Hollywood Reporter, speculated that the 31-year-old actress of Kenyan descent might be considered for the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s descendant.
The original Obi-Wan Kenobi was played by English actor Alec Guinness, and later by Scottish actor Ewan McGregor, who played a much younger version of the Jedi knight in the prequels. The descendent, however, is said to call for a "non-Caucasian," InEntertainment.com reported.
Neither Nyong’o nor Abrams have commented on the rumors.
Prior to her role in "12 Years a Slave," Nyong’o starred in the TV series "Shuga" and more recently the action thriller "Non-Stop," which stars Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore.
Aside from rumors surrounding Nyong’o, "Star Wars Episode 7" made news several times in the past year as actors from the film's original cast confirmed their participation in the latest episode.
In January, Carrie Fisher, who played the lead role of Princess Leia, said
she would be joining Harrison Ford aka "Han Solo" and Mark Hamill aka "Luke Skywalker" in the spring to begin shooting the next installment of the iconic sci-fi franchise,
according to TVGuide.com.
"Star Wars Episode 7" has reportedly been reworked to pick up in the lives of Skywalker, Leia, and Han Solo, and will be written in large part by Abrams and veteran "Star Wars" writer Lawrence Kasdan. Lucasfilm announced in October that
Academy Award-winning screenwriter Michael Arndt had been dropped.
Kasdan wrote "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi."
