Stephen Hawking will appear as a special guest at this year's Glastonbury music festival in England, anchoring the 12-and-under Kidz Field alongside magicians, children's TV stars, and kid-friendly musicians.
The organizers of the June festival announced Hawking's upcoming appearance on Tuesday
in a blog post.
While most kids aren't likely to follow the theoretical physicist's more in-depth lectures on the Space-Time Continuum, Hawking did just last year record a cover of Monty Python's "Galaxy Song" that the children might enjoy. Moreover, just last month Hawking made significant inroads with the young ones during a lecture, where he told One Direction fans that Zayn Malik is — somewhere in the multitude of alternate universes — still in the band.
That said, the nature of Hawking's appearance has not been announced just yet.
Highlighting Hawking's musical forays further,
Rolling Stone noted that, "Hawking also reunited with Pink Floyd for the track 'Talkin' Hawkin'' on their 2014 LP, 'The Endless River.' The scientist had previously narrated 'Keep Talkin'' off Pink Floyd's 1994 album The Division Bell."
Headliners for the adult-focused portion of the festival include The Who, Lionel Richie, Kanye West, Foo Fighters, Pharrell Williams, and many more.
