Pizza Hut workers at a Sugar Land, Texas, store used kayaks to deliver free pizzas to families trapped in their homes Tuesday.

Regional manager Shayda Habib heard that families were running low on food, so she made 120 pies and asked her husband to bring kayaks to the restaurant to help deliver them to flood-ravaged neighborhoods, CNBC reported.

“We packed 120 pizzas into kayaks and took them out to people in their homes,” Habib told NBC affiliate KCRA. “The people in the houses didn’t expect us to come. It was so nice to see their smiles after so much gloom.”

Habib and six other workers waded through water that was chest-high at times, and paddled the kayaks through even higher waters with the pizzas on their laps, KCRA reported. Habib said she will continue delivering more pizzas until the store runs out of supplies.

“You never let your family go hungry,” she told Fox 4.

Others in Texas also have stepped up to help Harvey victims. A Houston Chick-Fil-A responded after two customers ordered burritos and a boat, with the manager sending his boat to help them escape rising flood waters, according to Eater.

Other Houston-area restaurants delivered free food to rescue workers and first responders, with some serving as drop-off locations for donated goods.

Houston Food Finder’s Phaedra Cook used Facebook to organize and coordinate help for those impacted by flooding and hurricane damage, Eater reported.

Twitter applauded the Pizza Hut workers and store for their efforts to help in a difficult situation.
