Tamerlan Tsarnaev has reportedly been buried in a Muslim cemetery in a small community in central Virginia, after the 26-year-old Boston Marathon bombing suspect's body was in limbo for weeks as multiple Massachusetts cemeteries rejected his remains.

Tsarnaev's body was interred at the Al-Barzakh Cemetery, central Virginia's first Muslim cemetery, located in the small community of Doswell, which is approximately 15 miles outside Richmond.

The funeral was arranged by 48-year-old Martha Mullen of Virginia, the Boston Globe reported.

"It portrayed America at its worst," Mullen told the Globe Friday morning. "The fact that people were picketing this poor man who was just trying to help really upset me."

The "poor man" Mullen is referring to is Peter Stefan, director of Worcester's Graham Putnam & Mahoney funeral home. Tsarnaev's body remained at Stefan's funeral home for weeks after he was killed.

Tsarnaev's remains were rejected by at least three local cemeteries in Massachusetts, which cited the stress his presence would bring to residents who have loved ones buried on the same grounds.

It is unclear how much money Mullen spent to transfer Tsarnaev's body.

Mullen reportedly reached out to Islamic Funeral Services of Virginia, which is associated with the Islamic Society of Greater Richmond, to arrange the transport of his body Wednesday night.

"What Tsarnaev did is between him and God," the Islamic organization said in a statement. "We strongly disagree with his violent actions, but that does not release us from our obligation to return his body to the earth."

Since Tsarnaev's immediate family was unavailable, Tsarnaev's uncle, Ruslan Tsarni, of Maryland, was tasked with handling his Muslim burial rites. The day the Tsarnaev brothers were implicated in the Boston Marathon bombing, Tsarni described them as "losers" to reporters.

"They have put shame on the entire Chechen ethnicity," Tsarni said at the time.

ALERT Government ‘Blunder’ Spawns Massive Profit Opportunity

Tsarnaev's mother and father remain in Russia and have continually postponed their trip to the U.S., fearing how the government will treat them.

Tsarnaev's brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, is the alleged partner in crime in the April 15 Boston Marathon terrorist attack that left three dead and more than 260 injured. He is presently being kept in a 10-by-10-foot cell with a steel door at Devens Federal Medical Center in Massachusetts.
