Director Quentin Tarantino claimed royalties are owed to him by the Weinstein Co. worth more than $4 million for four films as the embattled company tries to sell off its assets in bankruptcy court, The Hollywood Reporter noted.

The revelation came in court documents filed Monday by the Oscar-winning director, who joined other stars in their objection to an assets sale to reserve their rights, the celebrity publication said.

According his filing, Tarantino said the company owes him for four of the most recent movies he directed for the company – "Grindhouse/Death Proof," "Inglorious Basterds," "Django Unchained," and "The Hateful Eight," The Hollywood Reporter wrote. In all, the director claims the company owes him more than $4.6 million in royalties.

"By and through the Sale Motion and the Notice of Assumption, the Debtors assert that there are no defaults to cure in order to assume the Agreements," Tarantino's lawyers wrote in his bankruptcy objection, The Hollywood Reporter said.

"[H]owever, there are numerous uncured monetary and non-monetary defaults under the Agreements that must be cured as a condition to any assumption or assignment of the Agreements," it continued.

In March, the company founded by disgraced movie kingpin Harvey Weinstein filed for bankruptcy protection, months after Weinstein was forced out of the business after a series of sexual harassment and assault allegations against him, The Washington Post reported then.

Weinstein has denied the allegations, noted the Post. The Weinstein allegations sparked the nationwide #MeToo social media movement that led to allegations of sexual harassment and assault by women and some men inside and outside Hollywood.

Variety reported Monday that the Weinstein Co. announced that Lantern Capital was the winning bidder in its bankruptcy sale with an offer of $310 million. Delaware U.S. District Bankruptcy Judge Mary Walrath must still approve the deal.

Lantern would also assume "project-based liabilities" totaling $115 million, Variety reported.

The committee of unsecured creditors quickly filed an objection to the form of the Lantern bid, charging that it was not convinced that the Weinstein Co. has achieving the maximum return for creditors, Variety reported.

Variety reported that The Weinstein Co. turned down a late $315 million from Broadway producer and former hedge fund partner Howard Kagan under the name Inclusion Media claiming that it lacked a financial commitment and other qualifications.

The publication said the Kagan bid included $30 million for victims of Weinstein's alleged sexual misconduct.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, other stars objecting to the asset sale included Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Brad Pitt, Jake Gyllenhaal, Stephen King, Bill Murray, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, and Weinstein himself.
