Similarities in Taylor Swift's latest video and Beyoncé's 2016 "Formation" piece are unfounded, Swift's video director argued after some fans questioned the work.

Some fans took to social media over the weekend after a sneak peek of Swift's music video to her new song "Look What You Made Me Do," was posted online, The Wrap reported. Some complained that one shot in particular allegedly resembled that from the Beyoncé video.

Some Twitter users called the video a "gentrification" of Beyoncé's "Formation," while others just expressed their dislike of the similarities between the two. The Wrap wrote that others complained that Swift's video also was similar to Beyoncé's Southern Gothic videos from her "Lemonade" visual album.

Swift's video director Joseph Kahn, though, rejected to similarities in two posts on Twitter, saying the Swift's work was not in Beyoncé's "art space."

Beyoncé's "Formation" video won the Grammy Award for best music video this year. The "Lemonade" visual album was given a Peabody Award in April, called by judges "sublime" piece of work in the scripted television field, Vanity Fair wrote.

Swift's video official debuted in its entirety at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday. The video has proven to be a monster hit on YouTube, being viewed more than 20 million times since it was posted Sunday.

People magazine wrote that the video and single precedes Swift's upcoming album "Reputation," which is scheduled to be released on Nov. 10.
