Taylor Swift's hot new video dropped this week and critics are scrambling to decipher the meaning behind the single.
Glamour noted that the video for Swift's latest single, "Look What You Made Me Do," which debuted at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, was crammed with imagery that snubs the pop star's haters throughout her career.
However, this is only the tip of the iceberg.
The video, which is directed by Joseph Kahn, features several other Easter eggs hidden in the footage of the quirky single.
Preen noted that the opening scene of the video shows Swift crawling out of the grave, then burying herself wearing the dress from her "Out of the Woods" music video.
This aligns with lyrical content in the song, where the pop star states "I'm sorry, the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now. Why? Oh! 'Cause she's dead," and hints at the pop star burying a version of herself.
In another scene, Swift is lying in a bathtub filled with diamonds.
According to EW, the presence of a single dollar bill is making reference to the legal battle against David Mueller, the former radio host who stood accused for groping the pop star in 2013.
A key scene in the video sees Swift crashing a Maserati in the street and, when the pop star emerges from the wreck, she is sporting a haircut closely resembling the style debuted by Katy Perry earlier this year.
EW said this scene, along with others in which Swift wears a sweatshirt emblazoned with a tiger and could be a reference to Perry's "Roar," was a poke at the ongoing feud between the two singers.
Glamour noted that Swift also manages to get a jab at Kim Kardashian in the outro of the video when a glammed up version of herself collects receipts and takes countless selfies.
