Superstar Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated Yahoo live stream announcement Monday evening featured her latest song, “Shake It Off,” and announced her first pop album, “1989,” to be in stores Oct. 27.
Swift had been pumping the public up for the announcement (
Jimmy Fallon lost it on-air while trying to get her to spill the beans on the announcement), and when the moment finally came, she offered fans three bits of news.

The first thing Swift did was play “Shake It Off,” which is clearly not a country song. The song’s pop lyrics aren’t a love song, either, and instead pay homage to ignoring the haters and just finding your own rhythm to “shake it off.”
“Cause the players gonna play, play, play; And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate; Baby I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake; Shake it off. Shake it off,” Swift sings.
Then Swift announced “1989,” her first official pop album, though many argued that her last release, “Red,” left her country roots behind. The album can be pre-ordered from her website, which is also where fans can go to sign up for the 1989 Swiftstakes, the third part of the singer’s announcements, which encompasses a giveaway of 1,989 prizes including tickets and personal meet-and-greets.
Fans flooded online media with their excitement over the song and album. Even many people who aren’t Swift fans commented on how much fun she clearly had making the album.
“It's a generic pop song but at least she had fun making that video,”
one person wrote on Entertainment Weekly's article.
