A daredevil teen jumped off London's Tower Bridge late last week in a bid to impress his YouTube followers, and was soon hospitalized after rescuers had to pluck the nearly-drowned boy from the Thames River.

"It originally was a dare from one of my subscribers, and I attempted it as I like doing crazy s***. This was later very regretted by me and I realized it was the stupidest idea ever," Faisal "Carnage" Shinwari, 17, said after the stunt went wrong, The Mirror (UK) reported Friday.

Jumping into the drink, Shinwari apparently had the wind knocked out of him, but was able to float and paddle his way to the side of the river, where rescuers pulled him to safety.

The rescuers pumped water from his lungs and stomach, and he was taken to the hospital.

According to The Daily Mail, many online commenters were upset that Shinwari's stunt had a financial impact on the rescuing organization, RNLI, which relies on charity donations. Many called on Shinwari to donate to the organization as a way to say he was sorry for the stupid stunt.

"Yeah I would definitely think about giving a donation to the RNLI to thank them," he said, responding to a critic. "One of them contacted me on Twitter and asked whether I'd like to work with them on a promotional project to see if we can make something positive out of this and prevent other people doing the same thing."

Tony Wafer, RNLI' Community Safety Manager, commented on the stunt, saying, "As a lifesaving organization that works on the Thames in London, we are extremely disappointed that this young man chose to risk his life in this way.

"He was extremely lucky that the outcome wasn't more serious. We're glad that this young man regrets his actions, however we would strongly discourage anyone from doing anything like this."
