Police said they have made progress in the July killing of cage fighter Aaron Rajman in his Boca Raton home with the arrest of three teens last week. The trio has already been indicted by a Palm Beach County Grand Jury.
Fox News said Summer Church, 16, of Boca Raton; Roberto Ortiz, 18, of Boynton Beach, and Jace Swinton, 18, of Margate, could face charges of first degree murder in the shooting of the 25-year-old mixed martial arts fighter.
Rajman, who made his professional MMA debut in April 2014, had a 2-2 record. He was 8-1 as an amateur prior to that, MMAJunkie said.
Police confirmed the arrests on Facebook, saying the shooting occurred while Ortiz and Swinton were in the home and had an altercation with Rajman.
According to reports, Summer Church, who was arrested as a juvenile but is facing charges as an adult, is the accused mastermind in the case.
Her mother, Judi Church, told news media her daughter was forcedly involved in the incident that took place on July 3.
"My daughter was held at gunpoint and forced to make a phone call to him," she told the Sun Sentinel on Friday.
"The state attorney needed to arrest somebody, and they decided she was the criminal mastermind behind all this even though she told them everything she knows.”
Judi Church said Rajman was not home and did not answer when her daughter tried to phone him from a car, so the two other suspects dropped her off.
"The detectives know she wasn't in the car when it happened and they know she was forced to get in and make that phone call, yet they still came and arrested her [on suspicion of] first-degree murder,” Judi Church told the Sun Sentinel.
