Teens Rescue Missing Girl, 5; Chase Down Abductor's Car on Bikes

Two teen boys in Pennsylvania chased down a car on their bikes to rescue a missing girl, eventually getting the driver to release the allegedly kidnapped child, authorities said.

Temar Boggs, 15, and an unidentified friend joined the search in Lascaster for Jocelyn Rojas, 5, last Thursday afternoon after authorities announced that the girl had been abducted, according to CNN, who said they believe a man allegedly abducted the girl by offering ice cream.

CNN said Boggs and his friend saw Rojas in a vehicle about a half-mile away, but the man tried to elude them.

"Every time we'd go down the street, he'd turn back around, and then ... we'll follow him," Temar told WGAL-TV.

The boy, though, proved just as determined, following the vehicle in the neighborhood for 15 minutes before the driver released the girl, according to CNN.

"He stopped at the end of the hill and let her out, and she ran to me and said that she needed her mom," Boggs told WGAL-TV.

The Lancaster County district attorney's office told WGAL-TV Monday that police is "vigorously" pursuing a person of interest in the abduction but no arrest has been made yet.

Police are looking for a white male between 50 and 70 years old, driving a reddish-purple or maroon car with round taillights, WGAL reported. The man was wearing green shoes, green pants and a red-and-white striped shirt, and walked with a limp, the television station said.

Rojas's relatives said five-year-old girl is doing well following the ordeal, CNN said.

"He's our hero. There is just no words to say," said Tracey Clay, Rojas's grandmother said of Boggs, according to CNN.

LancasterOnline.com wrote that Boggs, who will be a high school freshman in the fall, had been with friends at a nearby apartment complex when someone asked if they had seen Rojas.

Boggs and his friends decided to join in the search after seeing on television that authorities were looking for the girl, said LancasterOnline.com.

"We got all of our friends to go look for her," Boggs told LancasterOnline.com, who added he did not know the girl or family personally. "We made our own little search party."
