Michael Jackson’s 1983 music video "Thriller" is being revamped into 3-D and is expected to be released next year.

The original video’s director, John Landis, recently reached a settlement with the late singer’s estate, allowing the project to move forward.

“That lawsuit went on for so many years, (but) we settled and they paid me finally,” said Landis, who will also remake the 3-D "Thriller," according to the New York Daily News. “And so, actually there is something happening with ‘Thriller.’ ”

The short film/music video may run in theaters and on Blu-ray.

“It is going to reappear in a highly polished and three-dimensional way that is very exciting on the big screen,” Landis told the Daily News.

“Thriller” could be turned into a franchise, including Internet games, a documentary, and a Broadway play, paperwork from the Jackson estate said.

“Thriller” was the first music video included in the National Film Registry, which recognizes works that are "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant.

Twitter users were excited about the news.
