Tiger Woods marriage rumors are swirling as media outlets hint at a possible Valentine's Day wedding for the golfer and his girlfriend, professional skiier Lindsey Vonn.
Woods visited Beaver Creek, Colorado, this week where Vonn was participating in the FIS Alpine skiing
world championships, according to the New York Daily News. She finished 27th in the giant slalom race, 2.67 seconds behind first-place finisher Anna Fenninger of Austria.
But rumors have persisted that the golfer is actually in Colorado to tie the knot with Vonn,
although CBS Sports didn’t think it likely.
“Wouldn't that be something, too. Tiger announces 'leave of absence,' flies to Colorado, marries global superstar athlete, flies home to prepare for Masters,” CBS wrote. “What will he do for his next trick? Again, none of this is likely, but if it does happen, you'll want to get to a computer quickly because the Internet won't last long.”
Vonn has been fighting her way back toward the top of her sport since a two-year rehab for her knee. But Woods, who has alluded to several injuries but is known to have back problems, is not doing as well.
On Wednesday, he posted on his website that he would be taking some time off to work on an injury that he said is not related to previous injuries.
“Right now, I need a lot of work on my game, and to still spend time with the people that are important to me,” he wrote. “My play, and scores, are not acceptable for tournament golf. Like I've said, I enter a tournament to compete at the highest level, and when I think I'm ready, I'll be back.”
Woods also said he would like to play The Honda Classic at the end of the month, but added, “I won't be there unless my game is tournament-ready. That's not fair to anyone. I do, however, expect to be playing again very soon.”
