Tim Lambesis, lead singer for Grammy-nominated Christian metal band As I Lay Dying, was sentenced Friday to six years in prison for conspiring to kill his wife.
According to The Associated Press, Lambesis, 33, and his wife, Meggan Lambesis, were separated when the San Diego sheriff's department caught the singer attempting to hire an undercover detective to kill her last year.

Lambesis was reportedly angry that his wife had limited his access to their three adopted children and was worried that she would receive a share of his income in the divorce settlement after eight years of marriage.
The singer and his attorney cited steroid use as a mitigating factor in the case, claiming the substance made him act irrationally. He originally faced up to nine years in prison,
Rolling Stone reported.
Bandmates Nick Hipa, Phil Sgrosso, and Josh Gilbert attended the sentencing, where dozens of the nearly 100 present wore yellow felt hearts in support of Meggan. They have previously announced that they are starting a new band called Wovenwar.
At the sentencing, Meggan Lambesis said Tim loved Arnold Schwarzenegger and frequently referenced the actor's role in the movie "Total Recall," where he shoots his wife and says, "Consider that a divorce."
Lambesis still faces a $2 million civil lawsuit filed by his wife.
