Less than halfway into his sentence, As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis has been released from prison after attempting to kill his wife, according to Alternative Press.
Lambesis was convicted in 2014 of hiring a hitman to murder his then-wife Meggan Lambesis because she wanted a divorce from him. He pleaded guilty to soliciting an undercover police officer for murder after giving an undercover officer $1,000 and directions for murdering his wife.
After former Dokken guitar player George Lynch discussed Lambesis’ release on Eddie Trunk’s Show on Thursday, Alternative Press confirmed Lambesis was released in mid-December and put on probation. No reason has been determined for the early release.
Lynch commented at length about Lambesis’ release, mentioning that he had had theological debates with Lambesis about Christianity before he “went off the rails” and started using drugs and visiting strippers, according to Alternative Press.
“He destroyed his band,” Lynch said of Lambesis. “They’re all struggling.” Ironically, Lynch said, “He’s got a mega record deal, he’s got a book deal, everything’s lined up for him. I mean, he’s gonna skate through life. Everybody else is suffering. His wife is living in fear, his children are living in fear. His band doesn’t have a pot to piss in,” Alternative Press reported.
Lambesis adopted three children from Ethiopia with his wife before they divorced. Alternative Press reported Lambesis gave up all rights to his children before his sentencing, as well as most of his net worth.
As I Lay Dying was a Christian metalcore band that released six records between 2000 and 2013.
