Former NFL football player Tim Tebow joined "Good Morning America" on Monday for his first appearance as a regular contributor, offering an inspirational story for the show’s “Motivate Me Monday” segment.

Robin Roberts welcomed Tebow to the show and told him, “You always lift our spirits when you’re here.”

Tebow’s regular contributions on Mondays are designed to do just that, and he was off to a good start with an interview with 10-year-old Deven Jackson from Pennsylvania.

After becoming severely ill with meningitis, Jackson got an infection and both of his lower legs had to be amputated.

“Like, it was really scary, like I didn't really want to lose my legs,” Jackson told Tebow.

A football player at heart, Jackson was determined to play his favorite sport. He runs on blades and his father, David Jackson, told Tebow, “He said he loved the way the wind felt in his face for the first time again, and that was pretty impressive coming out of a 9-year-old boy.”

Tebow’s regular appearances on “Good Morning America” come after his work as an SEC analyst over the summer.

Tebow was a University of Florida football star who was a first-round draft pick for the Denver Broncos. But his playing failed to live up to expectations and he’s currently a free agent, building his career outside of football. He also gained national attention for the fact that he prayed before games.

The former football player was welcomed to "GMA" by Rob Marciano:
