Tobias Strebel, a reality star who spent more than $100,000 to look like Justin Bieber, was found dead Friday in a California hotel room.
The cause of Strebel's death is unknown, according to KABC, but sources said "medications" were found in the 35-year-old's room.
Strebel, who also went by the name Toby Sheldon, became a personality after appearing on the E! series "Botched," a show that helps people fix their "botched" plastic surgeries. On the episode, he explained his
obsession to look like pop star Bieber, according to TMZ.
"I was in the music business before Justin was four or five years old," Strebel said in his "Botched" segment. "What brought me to Bieber was like the whole package — the full cheeks, the full temples, the bright open eyes, the full luscious lips, the special framing, his bangs, his full head of hair . . . just extraordinarily beautiful."
TMZ said Sheldon was reported missing on Aug. 18, and his disappearance may have occurred after a break-up with his boyfriend.
Sheldon was featured last year as part of a group "The Plastics," which put out a music video. The song opened with the words: "Are you one of the boring people who don't want to be beautiful, because everyone can be beautiful when you're made of plastic." The other two women in the group have had plastic surgery to look like Jennifer Lawrence and Madonna.
Sheldon achieved fame for his likeness to Bieber, and many went online to share their sadness at the news of his death.
