NFL quarterback Tom Brady has yet to commit to playing the 2018 season with the New England Patriots, according to reports.

ESPN's Adam Schefter says sources told him Brady's 2018 return isn't a done deal, however, those who know the five-time Super Bowl champion the best claim he’ll be back to play another season.

Brady has played for the Pats since 2000, and it’s been the only NFL team he’s known.

"My money would be on him playing football for the foreseeable future, but what goes on away from the football field, I don't know," one source told ESPN. "I don't know."

The smart money may be on him staying to play another year, but his age (he’ll be 41 when the season opens), and his desire to spend more time with his family could play into his decision.

"I believe he's going to be there," another person who knows Brady told ESPN. "However, having said that, we're dealing with a human being. Things can change. But I do believe he will be playing."

Michael Giardi of NBC Sports said several of Brady’s teammates claimed that he’s continuing with his normal pre-season workout — although he hasn’t said anything to confirm one way or the other.

“A pair of Tom Brady's teammates tell me they've spoken to the QB this offseason, including discussions about the upcoming season, and he's never indicated he wasn't playing/retiring,” Giardi tweeted. “Also, Brady continued his normal workout regimen/diet to this point, even while in Qatar.”

Concerns abut Brady's 2018 return were first raised when he opted out of attending the Patriots off-season program this week.

However, before his Super Bowl loss in February to the Philadelphia Eagles, Brady said he'd definitely be back.

"Yeah, you're going to see me playing football next year," Brady told Westwood One. "I don't envision not playing. You're at the end of the race, but you've got your biggest mountain to climb right at the end. Hopefully all the lessons we've learned have allowed us to be at our very best for this moment and that's what it's going to take and that's what we're prepared for and that's what I go out and expect our team to do."

Another star Patriots player, tight end Rob Gronkowski, also hasn’t indicated positively whether he’ll return.
