Scientologists believe that Tom Cruise is a "deity" within the church, second only to their leader, and "savior of the free world," a former follower revealed.
In fact, the Hollywood actor is so highly regarded that lower-ranked members are bused out in droves to see his films, often multiple times, in order to boost his box office, Page Six revealed.
Scientology leaders reportedly forked out thousands to buy tickets for Cruise's "Mission: Impossible" and "Jack Reacher" franchises.
Leah Remini, a former Scientologist, shared insights into Cruise's god-like status within the church.
The "King of Queens" star has been a harsh critic of the Church of Scientology after leaving the religion in 2013. She went on to earn an Emmy nomination for her series "Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath." Bree Mood, also a former Scientologist, echoed her statements.
"Tom Cruise was a god in the lower ranks . . . every time a Tom Cruise movie came out they’d buy all his tickets. It could be 500, 1,000, up to 2,500 people. I’m not kidding," she said.
The revelation came days after Cruise was seen fronting celebrations of a holy day at the Church of Scientology in Clearwater, Florida, The Underground Bunker reported. It also comes as Cruise's 26-year-old daughter Isabella spoke publicly for the first time about Scientology.
"This IS what I had been searching for. The missing piece," Isabella said, according to Page Six. "Suddenly everything began to make sense . . . I became that annoying girl in the org who would just talk endlessly about how incredible training is . . . now I KNOW. We all need to do this . . . This is a gift to yourself and so many others . . . If you are going to make it as a being for the long run you NEED this.”
