Tom Cruise, the actor and noted Scientologist, is "freaking out" about actress Leah Remini’s new tell-all book, "Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology,"
a source told Us Weekly.
"He thinks it’s a major betrayal," the source continued in their report.
Among the book's passages that have reportedly raised Cruise's dander is one particular anecdote about an alleged meltdown he had while trying to bake cookies.
Remini said that she was at Cruise's house during the incident. Remini recalled him yelling and berating his assistants, telling them to get together some ingredients while the whole time there was prepackaged dough right in front of him.
"Guys, where's the cookie stuff?" Remini recalled Cruise saying. "Goddamn it! Can I just get the stuff for the cookies, guys? Get in the f***ing present time, is what you need to do."
Remini, former co-star on the television hit "King of Queens," recalled that she whispered in Cruise's ear in an attempt to calm him down.
"Tom seemed like a child who had never been told no," Remini wrote,
according to Us Weekly. "The whole scene was so painful to watch that I had to step in. 'Oh, wait,' I said, as if I had just discovered something. 'Tom, is this it?' Cruise replied back: 'Oh, thanks.'"
The Us Weekly source said that while Cruise may be miffed about the book, he is unlikely to publicly respond to Remini's claims.
"Leah is what the church calls a 'suppressive person,' so she’s evil in his mind," said the source. "He wipes the memory of any SP out of his life. He’s letting the Scientology people discredit her."
