Video game critic and influencer TotalBiscuit, whose real name is John Bain, died at 33 after a fight with cancer, USA Today reported Friday.
Bain offered video game critiques through YouTube and won over many on social media where his channel subscribers topped 2 million, according to the USA Today. His death was confirmed by his wife who posted on Twitter.
USA Today wrote that Bain said in 2014 on YouTube that doctors found a mass in his colon and was later identified as cancer, leading to chemotherapy then surgery. Bain said in 2015 that at one time the cancer was in remission but then spread to his spine and "chemo doesn't work anymore."
The BBC News wrote that Bain was a critic of many popular top-selling games, charging that many developers sought to maximize profit at the expense of game play. He also championed many smaller, indie titles, producing videos where he shared his first impressions of new titles, the BBC News added.
Video game industry fans and insiders shared their condolences on social media.
