Toys R Us announced its final store closing, along with Babies R Us, will occur on Friday, disappointing many shoppers who took their frustrations out on social media.
Some locations will close up shop as early as Tuesday, with final closures being spread throughout the week.
All items will be heavily discounted, with percentages varying by item and location. Discounts will range from 60 percent to as high as 90 percent, USA Today reported.
Inventories are limited and of course there will be no restocking of items.
But while the once-giant toy chain has lost its battle with solvency, toy expert Jim Silver believes the war isn’t over and Toys R Us will re-emerge — and not just as an internet vendor.
"I firmly believe there will be Toys R Us stores, bricks and mortar, in 2019," Silver, who founded TTPM, an online toy review, told USA Today. "This is the end of the chapter, not the story."
While Silver remains optimistic, others were disheartened by the news.
