"Black-ish" star Tracee Ellis Ross used her guest-host slot on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Tuesday night to read a faux children’s book about sexual harassment called "The Handsy Man."
Ross preceded her reading with an opening monologue that called the onslaught of recent sexual harassment and assault allegations not just a Hollywood problem but "a systemic problem about the abuse of power that takes place across all industries, and had enabled a culture of inequity to persist for far too long."
As she finishes her thought, Ross pulls out the book, which has a comic Seuss-like rhyming take on how men should behave with their female co-workers and employees.
The rhyming tome listed many of the things men shouldn’t do in their actions toward women, including lines such as, “Even if you’re stoned or drunk, do not expose me to your junk.”
She finishes with, “I’ll say it clearly, nice and slow. If she doesn’t consent — the answer is NO.”
Dozens of men in positions of power in Hollywood and Washington, D.C., have been accused of sexual misconduct ranging from unwanted advances to rape of women since October, and many have been fired or have resigned after admitting that the allegations were credible.
Fans on Twitter commented on the book’s humorous way of encapsulating the truth.
