A trucker has been named as a suspect in the murder of Berit Beck, an 18-year-old Wisconsin girl whose body was found in a ditch in 1990.
Fond du Lac Sheriff Mick Fink said in a news conference Monday that new forensic evidence suggests that 60-year-old Dennis J. Brantner, of Kenosha, Wis., was inside the GMC van Beck was driving at the time of
her disappearance, the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel reported.
"It's the strongest physical evidence we have to date," Fink said at the news conference. "We have someone here that we're very interested in and we need the public's help. We're gonna go forward and I hope there's going to be a charge. I hope he’s going to be arrested."

According to the Fond du Lac Reporter, the sheriff's office contacted Beck's parents, Diane and David Beck, about a month ago with news that it had stumbled upon new evidence in their daughter's case.
"I called our son Ben and told him to come over too, but he said he was at work and nothing had ever panned out before," Diane Beck told The Reporter. "They were so close and this was so hard on him. It was supposed to be an exciting time for a teenage boy, getting a driver's license. Instead it is a birthday he will never forget."
Ben Beck turned 16 around the time his sister Berit went missing on July 17, 1990. Her van was found in a Kmart parking lot two days later in Fond du Lac, and her body was discovered the following month in a ditch near Waupun, according to the Reporter. She was reportedly suffocated and strangled to death.
