President Donald Trump may tee up a golfing getaway in Scotland – where his mother hails from and he owns two golf courses – when he concludes his visit to the U.K. in July.
Trump is scheduled to attend a NATO summit in Brussels on July 11 and 12, and then meet with British Prime Minister Theresa May on July 13. At some point, Trump also is expected to meet with Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral
Then he may extend his stay to squeeze in a round of golf with an unnamed professional at one of his resorts in Scotland, but details are still to be confirmed, RT reported.
While that hasn’t been confirmed, it hasn’t stopped critics from slamming Trump for condemning former President Barack Obama playing too much golf.
Trump himself has been criticized for his time spent on the greens.
The media won’t let go of multiple comments Trump made during his campaign about how little time he would have to play golf, in comparison to Obama.
Trump was initially invited to the UK for a state visit, in January a year ago when May visited the White House for his inauguration, but the trip has now been downscaled to a "working visit" amid fears of large-scale protests, Sky News reported.
The Independent reported that activists are planning massive demonstrations in expectation of the U.S. president's visit to the U.K. and there have been rumors circulating that Trump may still cancel the trip, but the reports remain unconfirmed.
