A US Airways stabbing in Phoenix this week led to the death of one man and another person being taken into custody.
The stabbing, which occurred at the US Airways Jeffrey D. McClelland Flight Center near the Sky Harbor International Airport around 4 a.m. on Wednesday morning, arose during an argument between two unnamed flight-simulator technicians that culminated when one man grabbed an unidentified sharp object and
stabbed the other, according to USA Today.
Phoenix Police Sgt. Vince Lewis said that the incident took place in an office hallway — not the flight simulator area — and that the technician who was taken into custody following the stabbing has been
cooperating with the police, The Associated Press reported. The man who was stabbed was taken to a nearby Phoenix hospital while reportedly still in critical condition, although he was later pronounced dead in what the police have deemed to be an isolated incident.
Lewis also said that no airport operations were hindered or impacted by the stabbing and the
subsequent investigation, according to The Arizona Republic. No further details pertaining to the incident, the names of those involved, the nature of the argument, or the stabbing’s aftermath have been publicly released as of yet, although the investigation is ongoing.
The US Airways Jeffrey D. McClelland Flight Center serves as a
training facility for employees, according to ABC 15, and the facility is located near Buckeye Road and 19th Street in Phoenix.
The facility is currently remaining open while the investigation continues, although the area where the incident occurred has been
roped off from further use, according to the Inquisitr. On Oct. 17 of this year, US Airways will shift into a merger under American Airlines with one website, app, and set of travel policies and benefits.
