Singer Usher’s 5-year-old son has been hospitalized after an
accident at a pool, People magazine reports.
Usher Raymond V was swimming at his father’s home in Atlanta and apparently tried to get a toy from the pool drain when his arm got caught, the magazine said. Two people tried to free him and couldn’t, but two men working in the home were able to get his arm loose. CPR was performed on the scene and the child was rushed to the hospital, People said.

Usher and his ex-wife, the boy’s mother Tameka Foster, are said to both be at the hospital by the child’s bedside.
The situation, already tragic, is made even worse by the loss last year of Foster’s 11-year-old son, Kile, in a jetskiing accident, People said.
The New York Daily News reported that Usher rode in the ambulance to the hospital with his son. The news site also said that doctors expect the boy to make a complete recovery.
People said Foster almost collapsed when she got to the hospital and heard what had happened. The magazine quoted a source who said, “She's still not over Kile, and now this happens. She is not going to leave his side now. ... We're all lifting him up in prayer."
Photos popped up across the Internet showing Usher with Usher Raymond V and also his 4-year-old son, Naviyd Ely. In most, the rhythm and blues star is grinning proudly. Twitter lit up with prayers and well-wishes as word spread of the near tragedy.
The Centers for Disease Control reports that every day about 10 people die from unintentional drowning, and of those 10, two are under the age of 14.
In the last decade, attention has been focused on how dangerous the suction surrounding pool drains can be, trapping hair, fingers, and other body parts.
