Val Kilmer Favorite Sequels List Is Topped by a 'Top Gun 2'

Val Kilmer said he would love to reprise his role as Iceman if there were ever a "Top Gun 2" sequel to the 1986 Navy pilot drama starring Tom Cruise.

Kilmer, 53, appeared on Larry King's Hulu show, "Larry King Now," this week to discuss his ideas for possible sequels to some of his greatest movies.

The actor said he would be interested in a "Top Gun 2," and acknowledged how much director Tony Scott contributed to the original film. Both Scott and Jerry Bruckheimer's producing partner Don Simpson have died since the first installment of "Top Gun" was released.

"I think it wouldn't be that difficult to maintain the spirit of it," Kilmer told King. "Tony was the most generous, positive director I've ever worked for in film. He's not known as an actor's director because he's such a vivid stylist with the camera… but he really loved acting and getting the shot."

Kilmer also pitched his idea for a sequel to 1995's "Heat," where he played a bank robber opposite Al Pacino.

"Here's my pitch," Kilmer said. "You remember Natalie Portman in it? She's Pacino's adopted daughter, so she comes home and says, 'Daddy, daddy, I want you to meet my fiancé.' And it's me. He's retired and I come to Chicago where he's retired back to and I'm going to torture him, and then I'm going to kill him."

Twitter users were excited at the possibility of a "Top Gun 2."
