When she was diagnosed with terminal cancer last year, doctors told her she had three to six months to live.

“I’m now the poster child for not believing everything I’m told,” Valerie told Closer.

Harper played Rhoda in the 1970s sitcom “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and the spinoff “Rhoda.” Since her diagnosis, she has continued performing, including competing in “Dancing with the Stars.”

Her treatment includes a weekly regimen of pills and visits to the doctor every eight weeks.
“There may come a time when I’m not feeling good,” Harper told Closer. “But then again, that time may never come.”

Harper is set to appear in a two-episode guest spot on "Signed, Sealed, Delivered," premiering April 20 on The Hallmark Channel.

"I was supposed to be gone before last Easter," Harper told "Today." "But when you say 'supposed to be,' the doctors just give their best guesstimate. What I have is incurable and terminal, but guess what? Not today."

Fans offered words of support on Twitter.
