Former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Victoria Jackson is running for office in Tennessee.

The Tennessean called Jackson an “active Tea Party conservative” and said she’s been involved in politics the last few years, appearing on Fox talk shows and speaking out as an activist.

She filed as independent in the race for Williamson County commissioner though because she’s “very disappointed in the Republican party,” according to Mediate.

“I think the key to saving America is normal everyday citizens getting involved because we the people are supposed to be in control, not the government,” Jackson told The Tennessean. “I had a political awakening in 2007. I’m tired of complaining. I want to do something.”

When she was interviewed by Bill O’Reilly on Fox, Mediate quoted Jackson as saying Tea Partiers are the “greatest people I’ve ever met.”

Jackson discussed her political philosophies with the Tennessean, saying, “I want less federal government involvement, lower taxes, smaller government, more public involvement, a balanced budget and fiscal responsibility.”

She told the newspaper that she thought she’d blend right in with members of the current county commission.

“I went to the dentist recently and there was a Bible in the lobby of the dentist office. ... I love this town,” she said. “My two favorite things are here — Jesus and show business.”

Jackson is not the only conservative former "SNL" cast member: Jon Lovitz, Dennis Miller, Norm MacDonald, Colin Quinn, Jim Downey, and Adam Sandler were too. Although "SNL" producer Lorne Michaels feels Jackson was a bit different.

“Well, let’s put Victoria in a separate category. When she arrived here, she was married to a fire-eater. Then she married an old boyfriend who was a cop,” Michaels told Vulture. “She was always deeply Christian.”

Ultimately, though, Michaels told Vulture said about "SNL" itself and politics: “Us? Theoretically, whoever it is in power, we’re against them.”
