Walmart Alligator Can't Hack Store's Automatic Doors, Wanders Off (Video)

Police responded to reports of an intruder at a central Florida Walmart over the weekend only to discover that the trespasser was a 6-foot-long alligator.

The gator wandered up to the Apopka Walmart supercenter's front entrance shortly after midnight Sunday, repeatedly triggering the store's motion-sensor automatic doors.

"It was a nice sized gator, just chillin'," customer Robin Watkins told WKMG Local 6. "It was neat to see but I'm glad they locked the doors for safety because I do have my child with me."

Luckily, employees locked the doors before the alligator could make its way inside the store. Police and animal handlers were called to the scene, but the creature disappeared into a nearby wooded area before it could be captured.

Though no doubt scary, Florida's Walmart alligator has nothing on reptiles from Mississippi.

Last month a group of wranglers broke the state's gator record after hauling in a massive, 741.5-pound alligator.
